As more and more people are losing their jobs these days, unemployment benefits are becoming the topic of conversation for many people. Some individuals have never been out of a job before and have no idea how to file for unemployment benefits. Each state has its own program dictating how to go about filing for unemployment.
If you live in South Dakota, filing a South Dakota unemployment application is very easy. You can file the application online, or use the telephone application process by calling the unemployment Call Center. Residents who have recently moved to the state can also file a South Dakota unemployment application if they have been previously employed in another state. These residents may need to file an interstate unemployment claim and get the appropriate phone numbers available for them at the Call Center.
To file a South Dakota application by using the Call Center, keep in mind the normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8AM - 4:20 PM. However since the Federal government has approved an extension for unemployment benefits, the hours have been extended until 6:20 PM.
Be prepared to give your drivers license number, social security number, the name and address of all the jobs you have worked at in the last 18 months and the reason why you are unemployed. If you are a recently discharged military member, you must also submit a copy of your DD214. Aliens are required to supply their Alien Registration Number.
For a South Dakota unemployment application to be accepted, you must supply all of the above information. The number for the Call Center is 605.626.3179.
